There is a small and suggestive village in the upper Molise, suggestively nestled in the Mainarde mountains, which preserves an ancient tradition: it is Scapoli, the capital of the Italian bagpipes, called ‘zampogne’. A museum and an international festival celebrate this ancient musical instrument.
Molise boasts a small collection of Egyptian artifacts. It is possible to admire it in the splendid museum of Baranello, a few kilometers from Campobasso.
The civic museum of Baranello (Campobasso) is a hidden and little-known jewel. It is unique in Molise and among the few examples in Italy of nineteenth-century collecting still intact today.
Molise takes part in the Archeofest in Rome, the experimental archeology festival held at the Museo delle Civiltà from 5 to 7 April 2019. Molise is worthily represented by the Museum of Costumes of Molise (Musec) of Isernia.
