20 days of free access per year to all state museums and archaeological sites: this is the content of the recent decree by the Ministry for Cultural aimed at increasing accessibility to Italy’s cultural sites. Free for everyone, across the entire national territory.
There are 11 state museums and archaeological sites in Molise:
in Campobasso: the Sannitic Provincial Museum and Palazzo Pistilli;
in Sepino: the Museum of the City and Territory (the archaeological site, however, is always freely accessible);
in Gambatesa: the Castello di Capua;
in Civitacampomarano: the Angevin Castle;
in Isernia: the National Paleolithic Museum of Isernia and the Archaeological Museum of Santa Maria delle Monache;
in Pietrabbondante: the Italic Sanctuary;
in Venafro: the National Museum of Castello Pandone and the Archaeological Museum;
in Castel San Vincenzo: the monumental complex of San Vincenzo al Volturno.
Take note and stay updated on the website of the Molise Museum Network.
This represents a significant increase in the number of free-entry days, considering that until last year there were 12. What are these 20 free days?
6 free Sundays, the first Sundays of each month from October to March;
6 free days during Museum Week, which in 2019 is scheduled from March 5 to March 10 (a new addition);
8 days of free access, decided and managed independently by the directors of individual state museums and archaeological sites.
